James Austin Jr Trio with special guest Dermel Warren perform “Songs in the Key of Wonder”, showcasing select classics by Stevie Wonder. Dermel joins this live performance to compliment James’ tasteful instrumental arrangements with her soulful vocals. The combination of the Trio’s magic blended with Warren’s special touch is sure to dazzle the audience with a range of inspired emotions.
James Austin Jr is an accomplished jazz pianist and bandleader who hails from Chicago, IL. He has honed his craft under legendary jazz musicians like Barry Harris and is regularly featured in the NYC area in live concerts, theatrical performances, and civic and charitable events. He has curated and led the NJPAC Jazz Jam Session series since its inception.
Dermel Warren developed her singing voice in her childhood church in Memphis, TN, where she trained with Kelley Muller-Smith (the first lady of Miracle Temple Ministries, Inc). She has performed with Sergio Davis, the late Mel Waiters, and Donald Lawrence. She performs regularly with her husband, jazz drummer Jeremy Warren, and several other “A list” musicians.
